Field Operations – Scheduling Manager

ABOUT OUR COMPANY: Founded over 60 years ago, we are a well-established and well respected multifaceted full service mechanical contracting company located in Woburn Massachusetts. We are looking for a dedicated Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our expanding team. Specializing in commercial, Industrial and Life Science Projects, we are seeking someone who has experience across all ends of this spectrum.

Job Summary

This position will be 50% Field Based and 50% Office Based. As the Scheduling / Operation Manager you will be responsible for managing the overall day-to-day labor scheduling coordination and supervision for field-related construction activities for multiple geographically dispersed mechanical plumbing construction projects. Collaboration and partnership linkage with the Field and the Project Management Office will be critical to this position.

Education: 

  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adhere to schedules.
  • Ability to assess and quickly solve problems.
  • Ability to manage staffing for multiple project teams.
  • Ability to use or to learn MS Office software products as well as software scheduling tools effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical Contracting Construction
  • Plumbing Journeyman’s License
  • B.S Degree / Advanced technical training preferred, but not required based on industry experience. Relevant work experience will be highly considered.

 

What you will be doing:  You will play a key role in developing efficiencies for this position within the company in which duties included are but not limited to the following:

  • Develop manpower schedules and project loading to ensure contract completion in an efficient and profitable manner and maintain accurate and consistent scheduling in our Workforce Management System – Timesheet Mobile.
  • Ensure field employees are productive and efficient.
  • Proactively work with Clients, Client Field Superintendents, GCs, and Subcontractors to resolve any operational staffing issues or concerns.
  • Build and maintain an effective operations organization committed to customer and employee satisfaction.
  • Ensure all safety and occupational health principles, practices, procedures, laws, and regulations are followed as they relate to field performance requirements.
  • Review key personnel (i.e., Job Site Foreperson) and track individual goals and training needs to build a strong and accountable operational team.
  • Mentor, train and develop team members to ensure that proper field staff are in the right roles to be successful.
  • Takes direct action to address performance deficiencies.
  • Attends preconstruction planning meetings, walk-throughs, pre-site surveys and other client facing meetings when needed.
